Phd Program 2015 in NISER Bhubaneswar
Applications are invited from Indian citizens for admission to PhD Programme scheduled to commence from July 27th, 2015 in the following schools of basic sciences at NISER, Bhubaneswar:
- School of Biological Sciences
- School of Chemical Sciences
- School of Physical Sciences
- School of Mathematical Sciences
Eligibility for NISER Phd Programme 2015
Age: Not more than 28 years on 01st June 2015 (Born on/after 02nd June 1987)
Educational Qualifications
Biological Sciences: 60 percent in Master’s in any branches of Biology, Life Sciences and Bioinformatics Students with Master’s in any branches of Natural or Computer Sciences with interest in pursuing career in Biology.
Chemical Sciences: 60 percent in Masters or in an equivalent degree in Chemistry, Physics, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science as any one of the subject.
Physical Sciences: 60 percent in Masters or in an equivalent degree in Chemistry, Physics, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science as any one of the subject.
Mathematics Sciences: 60 percent in Masters or in equivalent degree in Mathematics.
Those appearing in the qualifying exam in 2015 are also eligible to apply; if selected their admission will be provisional subject to submission of qualifying exam certificate/mark sheet at the time of the admission.
Applicants should have qualified the CSIR-UGC NET / GATE / JEST / JGEEBILS 2015 / NBHM / INSPIRE or any other equivalent exam valid for the current year in the relevant subject of research.
UGC-CSIR or any other JRF qualified Applicants have to avail the fellowship directly from that organization whereas, students selected for PhD program based on GATE/GPAT/JEST/JGEEBILS 2015 or any other score, are eligible for financial aid (Assistantship/Scholarship) from NISER, Bhubaneswar, if selected.
The scholarship given by NISER is Rs.25000/- for first 2 years, which will subsequently be enhanced to Rs.28000/- for remaining 3 years, subject to the condition that he/she fulfills all the requirements of the Institute that will be stipulated from time to time.

Last date for Postal requests for application Forms on April 10th, 2015 (Friday)
Last date to submit the filled-in application form on April 16th, 2015 (Thursday)
Names of the short-listed Applicants will be available in the Website on or after May 08th, 2015 (Friday)
The tentative dates for test/interview of four schools are given below
Chemistry: 08th & 09th June 2015
Physics: To be announced
Biology: To be announced
Mathematics: 21st – 22nd May 2015
The PhD registration will be done on July 27th, 2015 (Monday)
NISER is scheduled to move to its permanent campus in Jatni around July, 2015
Selection Procedure
The selection committee of the respective school will short-list the Applicants among those who meet the minimum educational qualifications and satisfy additional criteria which each school may set as deemed necessary.
The short-listed Applicants will be called for an interview, supplemented by a written test, if necessary, for the admission.
Based on the academic record and the performance of the Applicants in the selection process, the selection committee of the school will recommend Applicants to the Chairman, Academic Council for admission to the PhD program.
How to Apply – NISER Bhubaneswar Phd Admission 2015 ?
The application form and reference letter can be found in page 3 to 6 of this document.
Else, the form can be obtained by speed post or in person from the Academic Section, NISER Bhubaneswar (for postal address see below). In case of request by post, please enclose a self-addressed envelope (A4 size, 21 cm X 30 cm) affixed with postage stamps of Rs.40/-.
The forms will be sent by speed post.
Applicants intending to apply for more than one school should use separate application form for each school with appropriate enclosures; the application form can either be typed or hand-written.
Incomplete application form will be rejected.
NISER does not demand any application fee from the Applicants who apply for PhD program.
Attach only self-attested copies of all supporting documents (mark sheets, certificates, age proof i.e., either birth certificate or matriculation certificate, caste certificate, etc.).
Enclose two sealed letters of reference with signature of the referee on the envelope; the copy of the reference letter is available in page 5 & 6 of this document.
