NIT Agartala is 4 km off National Highway (NH-44) and about 20 km away from capital city. There are more than seven Airlines connecting Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Mumbai directly.National Institute of Technology Agartala, a centrally funded Institution is setup to impart quality technical education into various levels of higher learning. It may be mentioned here that the 23rd February 2006 is a Red Letter Day in the history of Tripura Engineering College as well as for the State of Tripura as the Union Cabinet approved the proposal of State Government for conversion of Tripura Engineering College to National Institute of Technology, a fully Central Government funded Institution with Deemed to be University status and would also to become a National Centre of Excellence.

Eligibility:

B.Tech :

• One should have passed Higher Secondary or 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (45% of marks for SC Students and 40% of marks for ST students)  
• For admission in Lateral Entry to 3rd semester or 2nd year of BE/BTech one should have passed three years diploma in engineering with at least 60% marks in aggregate. Admission is made by a state level competitive examination conducted by a state level committee under Higher Education Department.

M.Tech : For pursuing MTech, a student should possess a Bachelors degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area, with at least 60% marks or equivalent ( CPI of 6.5) for General category students (55 % marks or CPI of 6.0 for SC/ST students)

MCA : For admission to the MCA the candidate must have scored minimum 60% marks (6.5/10 CGPA) in the examinations of class 12th, Graduation with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Mathematics as one of the subjects. There is a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST candidates.

MBA : Candidates are required to have passed graduation in any stream, from any recognized University.

Ph.D : Minimum educational qualification required for admission to Ph.D. Programme in Engineering Departments is any one of the following. A Masters Degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent in an appropriate discipline with minimum of 60% of marks (CPI of 6.5) OR a Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Technology with an excellent academic record securing minimum 70% of marks.

For admission in Science and Humanities & Social Science Departments one must have a Master degree in the relevant discipline with a first class or a minimum of 60% of marks or equivalent.
