About Us:

National Institute of Technology, Warangal (Deemed University), formerly known as Regional Engineering College, was established in 1959. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone for this institute on October 10, 1959, the first in the chain of 30 NITs (formerly known as RECs) in the country. The Institute is well known for its dedicated faculty, staff and the state-of-the art infrastructure conducive to a healthy academic environment. The Institute is constantly striving to achieve higher levels of technical excellence.  Evolving a socially relevant and yet internationally acceptable curriculum, implementing innovative and effective teaching methodologies and focusing on the wholesome development of the students are our concerns.  Thanks to UNESCO and UK assistance in the past, many developmental activities were undertaken.The World Bank Assistance under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP during 2004-09) had been a timely help in the overall development of the Institute.

The major facilities are:

• 20 hostels for boys and two for girls with canteen facilities

• Central library with 1,57,596 books, back volumes, technical pamphlets, standards, CD-ROMs, Video cassettes  etc.
• Dispensary with provision for one full time Residential Medical Officer, one visiting doctor and two part time doctors who are assisted by supporting staff such as Staff Nurse, Pharmacist etc

Eligibility :

B.Tech  :One needs to qualify JEE (MAIN), where weightage to this Examination is 60% and to XII Board Examination Result is 40%. Admissions are on the basis of the rank in JEE (Main).

The Ph.D. Programs are offered on:

1. Full-time basis
2. Part-time basis for the candidates from National Research Laboratories and from Public Sector Units having research facilities and having an MOU with NIT-Warangal ONLY

The distinguished faculty at NITW, which forms the most impacting clout in academic and consulting circles, has taken the pains to ensure that our student is constantly acclimatized to the dynamics of change and takes his rightful place amongst the future change drivers of the industry. The T & P section assists the departments in placement of students. About 140 - 160 companies visit the campus every year. Some of our loyal recruiters include sclumberger, shell, Intel etc.
