About Us:

The Himachal Pradesh University was founded on July 22, 1970. It is located at Summer Hill which is at a distance of 5 kms from the main town, Shimla. The University is nestled amidst tall and lush green trees of deodars, oats, pines and rhododendrons. The location of the University presents a panoramic natural view among the woods, settled around Summer Hill. The camps where one half bathes in the fresh sun towards the east and another half in the grandeur of unique sunset on the West. Overlooking snow peaked Majestic Mountain ranges add to the lofty ideals and vision of the university. Its salubrious climate and calmness presents congenial atmosphere to pursue higher studies. The University campus occupies an area of 200 acres and has been designed to possess a distinctive architectural style. Himachal Pradesh University is the only multi-faculty and affiliating University in the state. It firmly believes in what India's first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru said in his oft. (CTVS) POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES PGDMC PGDHRD Eligibility: 3.1 EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR B.Ed: The candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree (Medical/Non-Medical//Commerce/Arts) and/or in the Master’s Degree or any other qualification equivalent thereto (any candidate with 49.99 % or less Marks would not be eligible) and 45% marks in case of SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped categories (any candidate with 44.99% or less Marks would not be eligible) from a recognized University established by law in India are eligible for admission to the programme. (Para 3.2 of Appendix IV NCTE Notification No.F-5IF1/2007-NCTE (N&S) dated 27.11.2007). The candidates who have appeared in BA/B.Sc./B.Com. Final year or Master’s Degree examination and the result of the same has not yet been declared, can also apply for B.Ed. Entrance Test. However, the admission will be made subject to the production of certificate of qualifying examination with required percentage of aggregate marks at BA/B.Sc./B.Com./Master’s level examinations as per the eligibility clause of the prospectus on the day of admission/counseling. In case, a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility conditions on the particular day of admission/counseling, he/she will have no right for admission to the B.Ed. course. 85% seats are reserved for Bonafide/Domicile candidates of Himachal Pradesh and 15% to the candidates of other States. One supernumerary seat for Single Girl Child is reserved in the Department. Of Education H.P. University, Shimla. 3.2 AGE: There is no upper age limit for candidates applying to the regular B.Ed.
